Kuwait Medical Center for Physiotherapy and Prosthetics - Yemen

According to the World Health Organization report, 15% of the Yemeni population, or about 4.5 million people, suffer from various disabilities: physical or mental, or a degree of disability in one of the senses.

In addition, the official estimates of the National Federation of Handicapped Associations in Yemen that the number of disabled people exceeds 3.7 million, most of whom are physically disabled.

The governorate of Taiz is the most densely populated Yemeni governorate, with a population of about 5 million people, and one of the most affected governorates.
During the six years, the war, the missiles and the planted mines caused various injuries and disabilities for 40 thousand people of different age groups, including:
- 758 lost the upper and lower limbs
- 38 cases of amputation above the knee joint and require rehabilitation with physical therapy and prosthetic limbs.
The center's location is in central Taiz, among the most densely populated governorates in Yemen. The number of recent amputees in Yemen was estimated at more than 2,900 people, in addition to the previous numbers.
The presence of more than 6,200 autistic children who have been reached, in addition to congenital intellectual disabilities from Down Syndrome and cerebral sclerosis, for a number that exceeds 13,400 cases in the estimates of the Social Fund for Development.
The absence of post-stroke physiotherapy services in Al-Jund region, which is estimated at an average of 2000 cases per year, in addition to traffic accidents and other causes related to the nervous system.

The number of beneficiaries of the medical center project is about 6 thousand people annually of different age groups
