Direct Aid (Africa Muslims Committee) started its work in 1981 as a voluntarily non-governmental institution interested in the development in the neediest places in Africa. The campaign (Revive 100 Villages) aims to revive 100 entire villages (for people - crops - animals) through the implementation of several integrated projects, starting with the provision of clean water, livestock breeding, agriculture and grain milling, in addition to economic projects that generate sustainable income for them, as well as health, medical and educational projects.
The campaign will be implemented in 25 African countries through integrated projects. The projects will benefit 650,000 people, including artesian wells, educational and health facilities, agricultural projects, economic empowerment, and support services. All projects are eligible for zakat contributions and will contribute to Direct Aid's vision of empowering African communities. Donations are available from 1 Kuwaiti Dinar to any amount.

Revival Campaign of 100 Villages

Water pollution is one of the main causes of illness and death in the world, especially in sub-Saharan African countries where more than 40% of the African population lives in areas that have a sever lack of clean water, and people have to take a long journey to get water. Unfortunately, women who usually go outside searching for water almost on a daily basis.  

In DirectAid we aim to ease the difficulties for the poor families by drilling water wells in their areas so that they access to water much easier. 

The well is drilled to the water level below the rocky layer, and it is provided with an electric/ manual pump to pull the water up.

The Prophet (PBUH) said “Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break his fast with, he will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the fasting person” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi)

Health

Africa records the lowest number of medical staff globally. It has 1.3 doctors per 1000 people on average, while according to the SDG the reasonable number is 4.5 doctors per 1000 people.  

In Directaid, we always plan to intensively increase the medical convoys with all specialities in order for providing all medical services to the poor families in Africa to meet their critical health needs.  

The medical convoys include:

Covering the shortage of some specialities in health centres 

Providing medicine for free  

Awareness speech to stop diseases and epidemics widespread.

Medical Convoys

The African continent has more than 60% of the fertile agricultural lands in the world, and agricultural projects absorb a lot of the workforce in Africa, where 70% of the continent’s population works in agriculture. However, spending on agricultural activities in African countries is still low, it is not exceeding 25% of the annual budgets of many African countries. 

So, DirectAid gives much attention to agricultural projects by producing different types of grains such as vegetables and fruits for the DirctAid’s orphanages as well as the poor and remote villages, where the number of orphans is more than 22,000orphans.

The Muslim communities in Africa suffer from a severe lack of water due to the desert nature of the country, and people have to take a long journey to get water. In Direct-aid we aim to ease the way for the poor families through well drilling in their areas and make access to water much easier.

The well is drilled to the water level below the rocky layer to a depth that may be from 30 to 80 meters, and it is provided with a manual pump for pulling the water up.

DirectAid provides a food basket for fasting families during the whole month of Ramadan in the poor and remote villages in Africa and Yemen. The food basket includes the most needed dry food e.g. (rice – flour – oil – date – sugar – milk).
